Where we work and what we do
It's a fair question, and one we get asked often. New clients usually find their way to us through a recommendation, a sign on a project hoarding, or seeing our work at their local school or housing association. Knowing exactly where MBM operates and what sits within our six divisions is a useful place to start.
So here's the short version.
Where we work
We're based at our offices and yard at Newtown Industrial Estate in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. From there, our teams travel out to projects across four broad areas:
The West Midlands, including Birmingham, Worcester and the surrounding towns.
The Cotswolds, from Cirencester up through Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden.
The Three Counties of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire, taking in Cheltenham, Malvern, Droitwich and Hereford.
Bristol and the wider South West fringe.
In practice, most of our projects are within roughly an hour and a half of Tewkesbury. Keeping things local matters to us. It means our supply chain partners, subcontractors and direct labour are all rooted in the same region as our clients, and it makes the day-to-day delivery genuinely smoother. Less time on the road, more time on site.
What we do
We operate across six specialist divisions, each focused on a distinct sector with its own demands, programmes and procurement routes. They share the same MBM team behind them, but the way we deliver in each is tailored to what that sector actually needs.
Private Homes
Bespoke residential work for homeowners and developers, from full refurbishments and contemporary extensions through to listed and heritage restoration. Our recent project at Avenue Road in Malvern is a good example, involving structural alterations, a substantial reconfiguration of the ground floor, and a high specification finish throughout.
Commercial
Office fit-outs, hospitality refurbishments and commercial new-build work for businesses across the region. We've recently completed a substantial pub refurbishment alongside ongoing work for office and retail clients.
Local Authority
Public realm and council-owned property works, including the Abbey Grounds WC refurbishment in Cirencester. Our Local Authority division understands the procurement, compliance and reporting that public-sector clients need from a contractor, and we're comfortable working through framework agreements as well as direct appointments.
Education
Refurbishments, extensions and maintenance for schools, multi-academy trusts and colleges, including Crowle School. We're set up to work around term times, half-terms and exam periods, which is usually the only way large-scale school works can sensibly happen without disrupting students or staff.
Housing Association
Planned and reactive works for housing associations, including the ongoing tenanted scheme at the Heriotts in Droitwich, a Grade II listed property where we're working alongside tenants and managing agents to deliver the programme without disrupting daily life.
Maintenance Services
Day-to-day reactive and planned maintenance for clients across all the above sectors. Smaller works, faster turnaround, the same accreditations and standards as the rest of the business.
What sits behind the work
A few things tie the divisions together. We're SafeContractor, CHAS, Constructionline and FMB accredited. We have around 70 direct employees and a vetted supply chain of more than 200 partners, which gives us the scale to handle multi-million-pound schemes whilst still keeping the service personal. And we work in heritage and contemporary settings with equal care, which is increasingly rare in the trade.
If your project sits in our region and within one of those divisions, we'd be pleased to hear about it. Private clients thinking through an extension, architects putting a tender list together, or council officers looking for a reliable framework contractor: the same number gets you the right person.
